Allahabad High Court Warns Against Parallel Maintenance Litigation

Allahabad High Court Warns Against Parallel Maintenance Litigation

The Allahabad High Court considered a dispute about money a husband was ordered to pay his wife.

One court order required him to pay Rs 7,000 every month.

Another case had awarded her Rs 4,500 every month.

The High Court said the law can allow people to seek help under different laws.

However, it said filing several cases for the same kind of support can make courts busier and slower.

The couple had also agreed to a settlement involving Rs 1.51 lakh and the return of some belongings.

The husband paid Rs 50,000, but their planned mutual-consent divorce did not continue.

The court dismissed Shashi Gupta’s request for faster action in her maintenance case.
