US Job Growth Mixed in September, Gold Falls on Strong Data
The US job market had a mixed month in September.
More jobs were added than expected, but the unemployment rate went up because more people were looking for work.
This strong jobs report made investors less hopeful about a December rate cut, causing gold prices to fall.
The government shutdown made it hard to get the most accurate numbers, and the job market has been having a tough time this year because of high interest rates and trade uncertainty.
The government won't be able to tell us about October's job numbers until December because of the shutdown.
US economy added 119,000 jobs in September, beating expectations
Unemployment rate increased to 4.4% due to more people entering the labor market
August job growth revised downwards, showing a loss of 4,000 jobs instead of 22,000
Gold prices fell due to strong jobs data, dimming prospects for December rate cut
Government shutdown delayed the report and will also affect October's numbers
