Punjab to Use Traditional Land Acquisition for Aerotropolis Extension
The Punjab government is changing how it will acquire land for a new housing project called Aerotropolis.
Instead of asking landowners to give up land willingly, the government will now buy it through a process called land acquisition.
They plan to do environmental and social impact studies first.
After buying the land, the government will give landowners plots and commercial space.
This change comes after an earlier plan to get land was canceled due to protests.
The government hopes to complete the project before the end of its term.
Punjab government shifts to conventional land acquisition for Aerotropolis extension.
Forced acquisition replaces the voluntary land pooling policy.
Social and environmental impact studies will be conducted.
Landowners will receive plots and commercial space in return.
Project completion targeted before December 2026.
