Hezbollah warns Lebanon against expanding disarmament push
Hezbollah, a powerful group in Lebanon, has warned the Lebanese government not to try to take away their weapons in areas outside the south of the country.
They say this could cause big problems, like chaos or even a civil war.
Hezbollah only agreed to give up some weapons in the south as part of a deal to end a war with Israel.
They want Israel to leave Lebanese land, stop bombing Lebanon, and free Lebanese prisoners before they talk about giving up more weapons.
The Lebanese army has taken control of the area near the border with Israel, but Hezbollah says they won't give up their weapons elsewhere until their conditions are met.
This is all happening because of fighting that started after a war in Gaza in October 2023.
Hezbollah warns Lebanon against expanding disarmament efforts beyond the southern region.
The group insists on specific conditions, including Israeli withdrawal and halt of airstrikes, before further disarmament.
Hezbollah claims pursuing a state monopoly on arms outside the south could lead to chaos and civil war.
The Lebanese army has taken operational control in the area between the Litani River and Israel's border.
Israel criticizes efforts to disarm Hezbollah as insufficient, raising concerns about potential escalation.
