Floating Cinema Brings Kashmir Classics To Life On Dal Lake

Floating Cinema Brings Kashmir Classics To Life On Dal Lake

A film festival created a cinema that floated on Dal Lake in Srinagar.

People watched movies on a large screen placed on the water.

Mountains and city lights formed the background.

The cinema was part of the 2026 International Film Festival of Jammu and Kashmir.

It showed movies that were filmed in Kashmir or connected with the region.

The first movie was Junglee, a 1961 film starring Shammi Kapoor.

Another movie was Kashmir Ki Kali, released in 1964 and co-starring Sharmila Tagore.

Visitors said the floating cinema was a new and special experience.

The four-day event ended on Thursday, September 10.
