Mumbai Civic Body Unanimously Seeks Coastal Committee Against Pollution

Mumbai’s coastline is facing problems from garbage, plastic, sewage and encroachments.

These problems can harm sea animals and people who depend on fishing.

Mumbai’s civic representatives agreed that a special Coastal Committee is needed.

The committee could help clean beaches and protect marine life.

It could also improve conditions in Koliwadas, the traditional homes of fishing communities.

Some representatives said waste from the Mithi River reaches the sea.

Others said garbage cleared from one beach may be dumped in another area.

The proposal will now go to the civic administration for consideration.
