The Last House Review: Netflix Dystopian Thriller Drowns Mystery
There is a new scary movie on Netflix called "The Last House."
It takes place in a world that has become dangerous and hard to live in.
At the start, the movie feels small and personal, like a simple story about surviving.
There is also a big mystery that makes it exciting.
But then the movie tries to explain the mystery.
The explanation is confusing and not very interesting.
The movie adds strange science-fiction and monster parts that do not fit well.
Because of this, the movie becomes less scary and less fun.
By the end, it looks like many other monster movies you have already seen.
Some people who like scary movies may still enjoy it, but the ending might disappoint them.
"The Last House" is a Netflix dystopian survival thriller that begins as an intimate survival drama.
The review says the film stumbles once it shifts attention toward explaining its mystery.
The screenplay introduces science-fiction and horror elements that the review says are never fully developed.
The film's answers are described as vague and underwhelming, draining the suspense it had built.
By the final act, the film becomes a conventional caricaturish creature feature that struggles to justify its ambitious setup.
