Bombay HC Upholds CCI Probe Against Asian Paints
The Bombay High Court said Asian Paints must face an investigation by the Competition Commission of India (CCI).
The CCI is like a watchdog that makes sure companies play fair.
Birla Opus, a company that competes with Asian Paints, complained that Asian Paints was using unfair tactics to keep them from succeeding.
The court reviewed Asian Paints' attempt to stop the investigation and ruled against them, so the CCI probe will continue.
The court said the initial claims of procedural issues had no basis and that the CCI was right to launch a probe into the alleged unfair practices.
Asian Paints said they have to fight these types of claims anytime a new player enters the market, but the court dismissed their argument.
