Delhi Engineer Suspended After Teen Falls Into Open Drain

Delhi Engineer Suspended After Teen Falls Into Open Drain

A 15-year-old boy fell into an open drain in southeast Delhi on Saturday.

He was reportedly running after a kite when he fell.

Officials believe fast-moving water carried him away.

His family reported him missing at 11:54 a.m.

Firefighters, police and rescue divers searched for him.

The boy had not been found when the report was published.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta ordered officials to provide information about the drain.

A Municipal Corporation of Delhi junior engineer was suspended over alleged failure to perform his duties.

The boy’s father said the accident might have been prevented if the drain had been covered.
