Madras HC Rules Gita Non-Religious
The Madras High Court recently made an important decision.
They said that the Bhagavad Gita is not a religious book but a moral science.
They also said that Vedanta is a philosophy and Yoga is universal, not religious.
The court was hearing a case from the Arsha Vidya Parampara Trust, which was rejected by the government for receiving foreign money and being seen as religious.
The court said the government was unfair and ordered them to look at the case again.
They also said the government should be fair and act properly.
The trust is happy because the court agreed with them and will now be considered for registration again.
The trust teaches Hindu religious texts, yoga, and Sanskrit.
The court also said that the trust's activities were not definitely religious, and the government should have provided a better explanation for their decision.
Madras High Court ruled that the Bhagavad Gita is a moral science, not a religious text.
The court also stated that Vedanta is a philosophy and Yoga is universal, not religious.
The Arsha Vidya Parampara Trust was rejected by the FCRA for receiving foreign funds without permission and appearing religious.
The court found a breach of natural justice and disproportionality in the FCRA's order.
The court set aside the impugned order and remitted the matter back to the FCRA for a fresh notice.
