Sunny Deol Says Conscience Won't Allow Pan Masala Ads
Sunny Deol is a famous actor in India who makes movies.
He recently talked on a podcast about why he doesn't film pan masala commercials, which advertise a chewing tobacco product.
Sunny Deol said he will never make an advertisement for pan masala because he thinks it is not a good product to promote.
He also said he has said no to many other advertisements he didn't believe in.
He listens to his conscience, an inner voice that tells him what is right and wrong.
He said he doesn't know why advertisements don't come to him, just like movies didn't come to him before.
Meanwhile, the government in Maharashtra sent notices to three other actors about a pan masala commercial.
Right now, Sunny Deol is acting in Batwara 1947 and will play Lord Hanuman in the upcoming movie Ramayana.
Sunny Deol said on a podcast with Shubhankar Mishra that he will never do pan masala advertisements.
He cited his conscience, saying he does not believe in promoting such products.
He has turned down many endorsement opportunities that did not align with his personal beliefs.
He said advertisements rarely come to him, just as film offers did not come earlier in his career.
The remarks come as Maharashtra's Food and Drug Administration issued show-cause notices to Ajay Devgn, Shah Rukh Khan and Tiger Shroff over the Vimal Elaichi advertisement.
