Indian Markets Fall for Third Day Amid Global Weakness
Indian stock markets fell for the third day in a row on Wednesday.
The Sensex and Nifty both finished lower.
The Sensex lost nearly 374 points by the end of trading.
It had fallen more than 808 points at one point during the day.
Investors were worried because stock markets around the world were also weak.
Rising oil prices added to those concerns.
The tensions in West Asia were cited as a reason for the higher oil prices.
Shares in auto, technology and banking companies were among those that declined.
The BSE Sensex fell 373.93 points, or 0.49%, to close at 76,570.35.
The NSE Nifty declined 141.35 points, or 0.59%, ending at 23,914.45.
The Sensex dropped as much as 808.56 points during Wednesday's session.
Auto, IT and banking shares faced selling pressure, while Adani Ports, Bajaj Finserv, Power Grid, NTPC and Titan gained.
Global equity weakness and higher oil prices linked to escalating West Asia tensions weighed on investor sentiment.
