Delhi SIR Flags Gupta, Kejriwal Records Ahead of Final Roll
Delhi election officials are checking voter records in a process called the Special Intensive Revision, or SIR.
They found problems in the forms of about 33 lakh voters.
Rekha Gupta received a notice because her age details did not match information about her parents.
She showed documents, and officials approved her record for the final list.
Arvind Kejriwal and members of his family received notices because their forms did not connect them to an older voter list.
Other well-known people, including Kapil Sibal and Virendra Sachdeva, also received notices.
People who receive notices can send documents explaining or correcting their records.
Officials say the notices are part of the normal checking process.
The Aam Aadmi Party says the process could unfairly remove opposition voters.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s age-related discrepancy was resolved, validating her inclusion in Shalimar Bagh’s final electoral roll.
Arvind Kejriwal, his wife, parents and son received notices because their forms could not be linked to the previous SIR roll.
About 33.13 lakh electors were flagged, including 13.79 lakh unlinked records and 19.33 lakh logical discrepancies.
Kapil Sibal, Virendra Sachdeva, Sudhanshu Mittal and other prominent voters also received notices over various record mismatches.
Replies and supporting documents are due by October 29, with the final electoral roll scheduled for November 4.

AAP and critics’ concerns
The Aam Aadmi Party says the exercise is politically motivated and could remove the votes of Arvind Kejriwal, his family and other opposition supporters.
Treatment of prominent voters
Election authorities’ explanation
The Delhi Chief Electoral Officer’s office says prominent voters were included in the draft rolls so documents could be collected and their records verified during the objections period.
AAP and critics’ concerns

Kejriwal family records
Election authorities’ explanation
The New Delhi Electoral Registration Officer says the family’s forms lacked details needed to link them to the previous SIR roll; their names are to be validated and parked for inclusion after document verification.
