US Conservative Podcasters Face Backlash Over Indian Immigration Discussion
Two American conservative commentators made a podcast about Indian immigrants in the United States.
They said many Indian Americans do well in school and professional careers.
They also talked about family life, crime, assimilation, and jobs in technology, medicine, and law.
One host said some people worry that the H-1B visa program brings in workers who may lower wages.
They connected these worries to competition for highly sought-after jobs and university places.
The podcast came after a Texas political candidate posted a picture of South Asian students with a controversial caption.
Many people online said the conversation treated Indian Americans unfairly because of their ethnicity.
Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi said Indian Americans are fully American and should not be treated as a problem.
Christopher Rufo and Jonathan Keeperman discussed Indian immigration in a podcast titled “The Indian Question.”
The episode examined Indian-American educational and professional success, assimilation, H-1B visas, and cultural tensions.
The discussion followed backlash over Texas Republican candidate Bo French’s post featuring South Asian students.
Keeperman said some Americans view the H-1B program as unfair competition for native-born workers.
Critics, including Congressman Raja Krishnamoorthi, called the discussion racist, xenophobic, and fundamentally un-American.
