Banana Prices Crash in Andhra Pradesh
In Andhra Pradesh, banana farmers are facing a big problem.
A kilogram of bananas is now being sold for just 50 paise, which is even cheaper than a matchbox.
This is a huge drop from the previous average price of Rs 25,000 per tonne.
Farmers are very upset because they work hard and spend a lot of money to grow bananas, but now they are not getting enough money for their hard work.
In Pulivendula, one of the biggest banana-growing areas, the price has dropped by 60% in just one month.
Many farmers have to throw away their bananas because they can't sell them.
The situation is so bad that even the Union Agriculture Ministry has been asked to help these farmers.
The farmers are hoping that the government will do something to help them.
Banana prices in Andhra Pradesh have crashed to Rs 0.50 per kg, cheaper than a matchbox.
Farmers are facing significant losses as they are not receiving remunerative prices for their crops.
In Pulivendula, banana prices have dropped from Rs 22,000 to Rs 8,000 per tonne in a month, a 60% decrease.
YSRCP leader Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy criticized the current government for abandoning farmers and not providing support.
