Nepali Congress Party Officially Splits
The Nepali Congress (NC) party has officially split into two groups.
One group is led by Gagan Thapa, who was elected as the new president.
The other group is led by Sher Bahadur Deuba, who was the previous president.
The split happened because many people in the party were unhappy with Deuba's decisions, especially his choice to join a government coalition led by K P Sharma Oli.
The new group also elected Bishwo Prakash Sharma and Guru Ghimire as general secretaries and Mansoor as vice chairman.
More than 60% of the national delegates attended the meeting where these changes were decided.

Gagan Thapa was elected as the new president of the rebel faction.
