The Ballad of Wallis Island Finds Music in Nostalgia

Herb is a musician whose career is at a difficult point.

He travels to an island to play a concert for Charles, a very rich fan.

Charles loves the old band Herb played in with Nell, who was also once Herb’s partner.

Charles secretly invites Nell to the island, hoping the old band might play together again.

Herb is annoyed by Charles’s intense interest in the band and its members.

As the three spend time together, they argue and share emotional moments.

The film is funny but also thoughtful.

It looks at how people can miss the past while trying to move forward.
