Billy Joel Reacts to Trump Remarks With Silent Protest
Billy Joel, the famous singer, was upset by what former President Donald Trump said about a rally where people were being hateful.
He didn't like Trump's words and felt he had to do something.
Since Joel's family suffered during the Holocaust, the words were very personal.
Instead of giving a speech, he wore a Star of David on his jacket at a concert.
This was his way of quietly showing his support for Jewish people and speaking out against hate.
He said it was his way of taking a stand without making a big political show.
Billy Joel felt compelled to take a stand against Donald Trump's remarks about the 2017 Charlottesville rally.
Joel was shocked and furious by the violence at the rally and Trump's comments about 'very fine people on both sides'.
Joel's father's family was killed in Auschwitz during the Holocaust.
Joel wore a Star of David on his jacket at a concert as a form of silent protest.
He chose this method instead of a speech to avoid a political confrontation.
