Mumbai Rains Boost Water Reserves to 77.62%
Mumbai has received a lot of rain recently, which has filled up the city's water reservoirs to 77.62% of their total capacity.
This is great news because it means Mumbai will have enough drinking water for a long time.
The rain was so heavy that four of the seven reservoirs started overflowing.
The city's largest reservoir, Bhatsa, is now at 73.51% capacity.
The rain also helped other reservoirs like Modak Sagar, Vihar, and Tulsi reach full capacity.
This increase in water levels is good for the city's water security, but it also means we need to be careful about flooding and damage to infrastructure.
Mumbai's water reserves rose to 77.62% of total live storage capacity due to heavy rainfall.
The seven reservoirs now hold 11,23,443 million litres (ML) of water against a total capacity of 14,47,363 ML.
Modak Sagar, Vihar, and Tulsi reservoirs are at 100% capacity, while Tansa is at 98.77%.
Bhatsa, the largest reservoir, is at 73.51% capacity, and Upper Vaitarna is at 62.97%.
Four reservoirs have started overflowing: Upper Vaitarna, Vihar, Tulsi, Tansa, and Modak Sagar.
