IAF Ex-Officer Slams ZPM Govt Over Airport Handover Plans
An ex-Air Force officer is upset with the current government in Mizoram for thinking about letting the Air Force take over the Lengpui airport, which is used by regular people.
He thinks this is a bad idea because the Air Force cares more about security than making things easy for travelers.
He says that if the government goes through with it, it will cause problems in the future.
The airport was first started a long time ago.
The government is also talking with the Union Home Minister about giving the airport to the Airports Authority of India.
Retired IAF officer criticized the ZPM government for considering handing over Lengpui airport to the IAF.
The officer argued that civilian airports should not be shared with the Air Force due to security priorities.
He stated that other states sharing airports with the IAF faced inconveniences.
Construction of Lengpui airport started in 1987 and was inaugurated in 1996.
Union Home Minister suggested reviving the handing over of Lengpui airport to the Airports Authority of India.
