Karnataka Milk Unions Seek ₹8-10 Hike in Nandini Prices

Karnataka Milk Unions Seek ₹8-10 Hike in Nandini Prices

Milk unions in Karnataka want Nandini milk prices to rise by ₹8 to ₹10 per litre.

They say farmers are spending more money to feed and care for cows.

A drought has also made fodder harder to find.

Crop losses have reduced some farmers’ incomes.

The unions say milk prices in Karnataka have not increased for about one and a half years.

They also face competition from private dairies that want to buy more milk.

The chief minister has asked officials to collect information before considering the request.

This information will include production costs, milk sales and prices in nearby states.
