Bombay HC Dismisses PILs on Jindal and Lavasa Cases
The Bombay High Court dismissed two separate cases.
First, a woman's request to reopen a rape case against businessman Sajjan Jindal was denied.
The court said the woman knew the man was married and agreed to the relationship.
Second, a lawyer's request for a CBI probe into the Lavasa project, involving political leaders, was also dismissed.
The court said it cannot order investigations just to find out if a crime happened, especially when earlier cases were already decided.
Both cases are now closed.
Bombay High Court dismissed a plea to reopen a rape case against Sajjan Jindal, accepting the police's closure report.
The court noted the woman consented to the relationship knowing the accused's marital status and found no deceit.
The court also dismissed a PIL seeking a CBI probe into the Lavasa project, involving Sharad Pawar and others.
The HC stated that courts cannot order roving inquiries to find out if a crime was committed.
The Lavasa project, conceived 25 years ago, has failed and is now referred to as a 'ghost city'.
