Andhra Pradesh Signs MoU With Centre for Inland Waterways Project
Andhra Pradesh and the central government have made a deal to build and improve waterways, like rivers used for boats, within the state.
The central government is giving more than ₹150 crore to help make this happen.
They will help with special systems to guide boats and make the waterways deeper for bigger ships.
Andhra Pradesh will provide the land needed for stations and facilities.
This project aims to make river travel easier and more popular for tourists.
The state will also be in charge of making sure boats follow the rules when they are on the rivers.
Andhra Pradesh signed an MoU with the Central Government to develop inland waterways.
The Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) will invest over ₹150 crore in the project.
The agreement was signed during India Maritime Week (IMW)-2025 in Mumbai.
The Centre will provide a Vessel Traffic Management System (VTMS) and navigational aids, while the state will allocate land for facilities.
