NGT Halts Assam Units Over Environmental Violations
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has stopped two units, a brick manufacturing plant and a stone crusher, from operating in Assam's Nalbari district.
The NGT said these units can't work until they get all the necessary permits and follow environmental rules.
People had complained that these units were being set up near a river and could harm the environment, animals, and people's health.
The NGT checked reports and found that the units weren't working when they were inspected.
The NGT also told the local officials to make sure these units don't operate illegally and to check if the area is an elephant corridor.
