Telangana Leads India's Energy Efficiency Drive
Telangana is doing a great job in saving energy in India.
They have put up a lot of LED streetlights and given out many LED bulbs, which help save electricity and money.
This also means less pollution.
The state is going to show all these good things they've done at a big event called the Indian Energy Week in Goa.
They are saving a lot of energy every year, which is good for the environment and helps people save money.
Other states are also doing well, but Telangana is one of the leaders.
The event will talk about new ways to use energy better and how India is helping the world with these ideas.
Telangana has installed 17.33 lakh LED streetlights under the SLNP, saving 1,160 million kWh annually and reducing CO₂ emissions by 0.80 million tonnes.
The GHMC alone has installed 5.5 lakh LED streetlights, saving 369 million kWh and Rs 221 crore annually.
Urban Local Bodies and Gram Panchayats have installed 10.3 lakh and 1.5 lakh LED streetlights respectively, contributing to significant energy and cost savings.
Telangana has distributed 28.75 lakh LED bulbs under the UJALA programme, saving 374 million kWh and avoiding 75 MW peak demand annually.
Telangana's achievements will be showcased at the Indian Energy Week (IEW) 2026 in Goa, highlighting India's leadership in energy efficiency.
