Kerala BJP Councillor Agrees to Withdraw Resignation

Kerala BJP Councillor Agrees to Withdraw Resignation

R Sreelekha, a BJP councillor in Kerala, said she would resign from her council position.

After talking with party leaders, she agreed not to step down.

She had given a resignation letter to the mayor, but the corporation secretary had not received it, so the formal process was not complete.

Sreelekha said she had personal reasons for wanting to leave.

The BJP has 50 councillors in a 101-member city council and relies on an independent councillor's support to govern.

Party leaders said the issue had been resolved.

A Congress councillor criticized the resignation announcement and said voters' trust had been harmed.

He also alleged that residents of Sreelekha's ward had sought help from him.
