Puri Greenfield Airport Advances Toward Construction After Clearances

Puri Greenfield Airport Advances Toward Construction After Clearances

A new airport is planned near the city of Puri in Odisha.

Officials say problems related to forest land have been resolved.

The project has also received environmental and coastal-zone clearances, along with Stage-I approval.

It still needs a final clearance before construction can start.

The airport would be built at Sipasarubali on about 1,464.621 acres.

Puri Collector Dibyajyoti Parida says officials are working with the Airport Authority of India and the state transport department.

Today, many visitors fly to Bhubaneswar and then travel to Puri by road or rail.

Officials expect the new airport to make reaching Puri easier for pilgrims and tourists.
