Kolkata Police to Launch 20 Pink Booths for Women's Safety
The Kolkata Police are setting up 20 special 'pink booths' all over the city to help women feel safe at night.
These booths will be run by women police officers and will be located at important intersections.
If a woman feels scared or needs help, she can go to one of these booths.
Each booth will have a female officer in charge and a team of other women officers.
They will be open all night and will help women by contacting the nearest police station or control room if needed.
This is being done to make sure women in Kolkata feel safe, especially after a recent incident where a woman was harassed.
Kolkata Police to launch 20 'pink booths' manned by women personnel across the city's 10 police divisions.
Each division will have two booths at prime, carefully surveyed intersections.
Each booth will be led by a female officer-in-charge and supported by a team of 3-5 women personnel.
Booths will operate throughout the night to provide a safe space and immediate assistance to women in need.
The initiative follows a recent incident of alleged molestation involving a woman in a moving car in the city.
