Rays Acquire Freddy Peralta in Trade for Three Prospects
The Tampa Bay Rays traded three young players to the New York Mets to get a pitcher named Freddy Peralta.
Peralta is a right‑hander who has been good in the past but had a rough year with the Mets.
The Rays want him to help them win more games in their division.
The Mets are hoping the new players will grow into good major‑league players.
This trade is part of the Rays’ plan to stay ahead of the Yankees and Red Sox in the standings.
Tampa Bay Rays acquire veteran right‑hander Freddy Peralta from the New York Mets.
Mets receive three minor‑league prospects: Aidan Smith, Emilien Pitre, and Gary Gill Hill.
Peralta posted a 4.99 ERA in 2024 with the Mets, up from a 2.70 ERA in 2023 with the Brewers.
Rays’ rotation now includes Drew Rasmussen, Shane McClanahan, Nick Martinez, and Peralta.
Mets are last in the National League and are rebuilding with young talent.
