Bangladesh-Pakistan Closeness a Security Risk to India's Northeast: Security Analyst
A security expert named Lt Gen Shekatkar is concerned about Bangladesh and Pakistan becoming closer.
He thinks this could be a problem for India's Northeast area because it's close to both countries.
He mentioned that Pakistani officials have visited Bangladesh, showing this closeness.
The expert believes that China might be involved in this growing relationship.
If there's trouble, the narrow strip of land connecting the Northeast to the rest of India, called the Chicken Neck Corridor, could be threatened, cutting off the region.
He also pointed out that young people in Bangladesh might not remember past conflicts and could be influenced against India.
Additionally, he worries about people crossing into India from Bangladesh.
To handle this, he suggests India should talk to Bangladesh to keep them from getting too close to Pakistan, make sure India's military is ready, and ensure people in the Northeast feel cared for by their government.
Security analyst Lt Gen DB Shekatkar warns that increasing Bangladesh-Pakistan ties pose a security risk to India's Northeast.
He cited recent visits by Pakistani Army and ISI officers to Bangladesh as evidence of growing closeness.
Shekatkar believes China might be influencing the strengthening relationship between Bangladesh and Pakistan.
The security analyst highlighted the threat to the Chicken Neck Corridor, which could isolate India's Northeast.
He recommended a multi-pronged strategy including diplomacy, military preparedness, and addressing regional deprivation to counter the threat.
