Canada Removes 111 People in Extortion Crackdown on Organised Crime

Canada is removing some foreign nationals who authorities say are connected to organised crime or extortion.

Extortion means using threats or violence to demand money.

The Canada Border Services Agency says 111 people have been removed under this campaign.

It had issued 188 removal orders as of September 3.

Four recently highlighted cases involved Indian nationals.

Authorities said the cases included links to shootings, firearms activity, forcible confinement or criminal organisations.

Police and immigration officials are working together on the investigations.

The government says the removals are meant to protect communities.

The agency also said it removed 23,160 inadmissible people in 2025 for various reasons.
