Securities Markets Code Bill 2025 Introduced in Winter Session
The Indian government is introducing two important bills in the Winter session of Parliament starting December 1, 2025.
The first bill, called the Securities Markets Code Bill 2025, aims to combine the rules of different financial markets into one big rulebook.
This is to make it easier for businesses to work in these markets and to reduce the cost of following these rules.
It also wants to make the government's borrowing more trustworthy to foreign investors.
The second bill, the Insurance Amendment Bill, will introduce changes to allow individual agents to work with multiple insurance companies, known as open architecture.
However, the introduction of these bills has caused some insurance stocks, like those of LIC and SBI Life, to drop by up to 2% in value.
