Mass Detentions in Delhi as Protesters Demand CEC Resignation

Protesters in Delhi wanted Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to resign.

They tried to gather at Jantar Mantar, a place used for demonstrations.

Police put up barricades and stopped many people from reaching the area.

Rules were introduced against unauthorised gatherings of five or more people.

Several Metro stations were closed or affected.

Some internet disruptions were also reported near the protest site.

Protesters from political parties and student groups still gathered and shouted slogans.

Police detained many protesters, while some continued demonstrating around Janpath.
