Parveen Hooda Secures Asian Games Boxing Medal After Suspension

Parveen Hooda won her boxing quarter-final by a unanimous 5-0 decision.

This guarantees her a medal at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

She beat Uzbekistan’s Navbakhor Khamidova by using quick punches and careful footwork.

Hooda’s coach said she controlled the fight from a distance.

Two years earlier, a suspension for failing to meet whereabouts rules caused Hooda to lose an earlier Asian Games medal and her Paris Olympics quota.

She will next box China’s Li Shu in the semi-final.

India has also secured medals through Narender Berwal and Ankush Panghal.

Sachin Siwach was the only Indian boxer mentioned as losing on Sunday.
