Manipur Leaders Travel to Delhi
Two important leaders from Manipur, a state in India, went to Delhi.
One is the former chief minister, N Biren Singh, and the other is A Sharda Devi, who leads the BJP in Manipur.
They went to Delhi to talk about elections.
Manipur has been having some problems with fights between different groups, which have caused many people to lose their homes and lives.
The state is now under special control by the central government.
N Biren Singh said his visit is related to elections, but A Sharda Devi did not talk to the media before leaving.
Former Manipur CM N Biren Singh and BJP state president A Sharda Devi traveled to Delhi on January 16, 2025.
The visit is related to the nomination filing for the election of a new BJP national president.
Manipur has been under President's rule since February 13, 2025, following the resignation of N Biren Singh on February 9, 2024.
At least 260 people have been killed and thousands displaced in ethnic violence between Meiteis and Kuki-Zo groups since May 2023.
N Biren Singh confirmed the visit is election-related, while A Sharda Devi did not interact with the media.
