Indian Army's Animal Contingent to March at Republic Day 2026

On Republic Day 2026, the Indian Army will showcase a special animal contingent marching along Kartavya Path in New Delhi.

This group includes two Bactrian camels, four Zanskar ponies, four raptors, and ten Indian breed army dogs, along with six conventional military dogs.

These animals are very important because they can handle extreme cold, thin air, and high altitudes.

The camels and ponies can carry heavy loads and travel long distances, helping the army with logistics and patrolling in difficult terrains like Ladakh and the Siachen Glacier.

The raptors are used for surveillance, and the army dogs assist in various missions, including counter-terrorism and search-and-rescue.

Their participation in the parade highlights their bravery, loyalty, and the crucial role they play in protecting the nation.
