BMC, ARAI Begin Mumbai Region Pollution Mapping Study

BMC, ARAI Begin Mumbai Region Pollution Mapping Study

Mumbai’s monsoon is nearing its end, and officials are concerned that air quality could worsen.

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and the Automotive Research Association of India have started a pollution study.

They will look for places where pollution is especially high.

The study covers Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane.

Researchers will examine pollution sources close to the ground.

They will study how emissions change during summer, monsoon and winter.

The work will continue for more than a year.

Officials hope the results will help create an early warning system and better plans to reduce pollution.
