Mumbai: BMC To Build Pumping Station To Curb Waterlogging
The city of Mumbai is building a new pumping station in Mankhurd to help with flooding, similar to what they did at Hindmata.
This new station will have a big underground tank to store extra rainwater, and powerful pumps to quickly move water away from roads and buildings.
The goal is to keep the eastern suburbs from flooding during the monsoon season and to keep traffic moving smoothly, which is a project based on their success in the Hindmata model.
It will cost a lot of money but is expected to be done quickly.
BMC will construct a mini-pumping station with an underground holding tank at Mankhurd.
The project aims to tackle waterlogging in the eastern suburbs.
The pumping station will be near the cross-subway at Mankhurd.
The station will have three high-capacity pumps, each discharging 3,000 cubic meters of water per hour.
The project is estimated to cost Rs 15 crore and will be completed in six months.
