CBI Court Sentences Former Railway Clerk to Four Years Jail
A man named Durgesh Bahadur Singh worked at a railway station in Uttar Pradesh.
He was accused of taking money from a company to lower a fee that the company had to pay.
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) caught him while he was taking the money.
In 2026, a special court in Lucknow said he should go to jail for four years and pay a fine.
This case shows that the government is trying to stop corruption in railway jobs.
Former railway goods clerk Durgesh Bahadur Singh was convicted by a special CBI court in Lucknow on July 30, 2026.
He received a four‑year prison sentence and a fine of Rs 10,000 for accepting a Rs 7,200 bribe to reduce a demurrage charge.
The case was registered on 13 October 2017 after a complaint by the director of R.D. Cement Industries Pvt. Ltd., Lucknow.
CBI had caught Singh red‑handed while accepting the bribe and filed a charge sheet on 30 November 2017.
The court’s ruling follows other recent CBI anti‑corruption actions, including arrests of railway and construction officials.
