CPI-M adopts district-led candidate strategy for Bengal civic polls

CPI-M adopts district-led candidate strategy for Bengal civic polls

The CPI-M is planning how to choose candidates for local elections in West Bengal.

These elections are expected to take place by the end of the year.

Instead of the state leadership deciding everything, district committees will choose candidates and divide seats among Left Front parties.

District committees must ask the state committee before making alliances outside the Left Front.

Party leaders said they will not cooperate with the three Trinamool Congress groups mentioned in the report.

They also said working again with Congress is unlikely.

The CPI-M wants to compete independently as the Left Front.

It hopes these elections will help it become West Bengal’s main opposition again.
