Delhi Zoo Welcomes Otters After Two Decades
The Delhi Zoo is getting otters again!
They're coming from a zoo in Gujarat as part of an animal trade.
In return, Delhi is sending some Sangai deer to Surat Zoo.
The zoo had to delay the transfer because it was too hot for the animals to travel safely.
The otters will be a new addition to the zoo after a long time.
Also, the zoo is being renovated with new enclosures and a visitor plaza.
Delhi Zoo is reintroducing smooth-coated otters after a two-decade absence.
The otters will arrive from Gujarat as part of an animal exchange program.
Delhi Zoo will send Sangai deer to Surat Zoo in return.
The transfer was delayed due to unsuitable travel conditions and high temperatures.
The arrival of otters will increase the zoo's species count to 96.
