Secret Service Faces Record Threats Before Rescheduled Dinner

The Secret Service is preparing for a rescheduled White House Correspondents’ Association dinner with the highest threat level in 24 years.

They have opened about 10,000 threat cases this year, with protective-intelligence cases up 40% and mental health-related interventions 10 times higher than last year.

The dinner has been moved to the Waldorf Astoria after a shooting incident at the Washington Hilton.

The Secret Service is implementing enhanced security measures, including metal detectors and reevaluating sites.

They are also concerned about potential threats from drones and foreign entities like Iran.

The agency is considering making the White House security fencing permanent.
