Urooj Mumtaz Blames Babar Azam for Pakistan Bowling Decline

Pakistan’s cricket team is playing England in a three-Test series.

In the first match at Leeds, Pakistan scored 171 in its first innings.

England reached 366 for eight, giving it a 195-run lead.

Former Pakistan women’s cricketer Urooj Mumtaz says Pakistan’s fast bowlers have become less effective.

She says domestic pitches in Pakistan have often been too flat.

She also says this approach grew during Babar Azam’s first time as captain, when batters wanted flatter pitches.

Flat pitches gave fast bowlers little help and let batters score without enough challenge, she said.

Pakistan’s bowling problems are especially noticeable because the team was once famous for powerful fast bowlers.
