TVS Family Ownership Dispute Exposes Unresolved Differences Between Siblings

The TVS group is a large family business.

In 2020, the wider family divided parts of the group among different branches.

In Venu Srinivasan's family, his daughter Lakshmi and son Sudarshan now appear to disagree about ownership and a fair settlement.

A 2024 agreement explains which businesses can use certain TVS-related names and sets some limits on competing businesses.

But an executive close to Lakshmi says it did not decide how money or ownership should be divided between the siblings.

Lakshmi manages Sundaram-Clayton, and Sudarshan manages TVS Holdings.

A company board's quick change of decision about its company secretary helped bring the disagreement into public view.

Their parents had not responded to Mint's questions when the article was published.
