Khalid Jamil Appointed as India's Football Head Coach
The Indian football team has a new coach, Khalid Jamil, who used to play for India.
He's the first Indian to be the head coach in a long time!
The football association, AIFF, picked him partly because they don't have a lot of money and because Jamil has a history of winning.
India's team isn't doing great right now, ranked low in the world.
The new coach's job is to make the team play better, win games, and hopefully do well in the Asia Cup.
Khalid Jamil, former Indian midfielder, appointed as head coach of the senior men's national football team.
Jamil is the first Indian to hold this position in almost twenty years.
AIFF's financial constraints and Jamil's track record influenced the decision.
India is currently ranked 133rd in FIFA rankings, their lowest in nine years.
Jamil is tasked with improving India's performance and achieving success at the Asia Cup.
