New York AG settles with far-right group Betar
A group called Betar US, which is a far-right Zionist group, has agreed to stop its operations in New York.
The New York Attorney General found that Betar was targeting people based on their religion and where they come from, and was also intimidating people who support Palestine.
Betar says it is not guilty and wants to stop antisemitism.
There have been many protests in the U.S. about the situation in Gaza, and some people say their criticism of Israel is not the same as being against Jewish people.
The war in Gaza has caused a lot of suffering and has led to an increase in antisemitism and Islamophobia.
New York Attorney General Letitia James reached a settlement with Betar US to wind down its operations in New York.
Betar was found to have targeted individuals based on religion and national origin and intimidated pro-Palestinian activists.
The settlement requires Betar to cease instigating violence, threatening protesters, and harassing individuals exercising their civil rights.
Betar denies wrongdoing and states its aim is to quash antisemitism.
Protests in the U.S. have erupted in response to Israel's actions in Gaza, with concerns raised about free speech and due process.
