Defense Challenges Death Penalty in Charlie Kirk Case

Tyler Robinson is accused of killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk in Utah.

Robinson’s lawyers say prosecutors should not be allowed to seek the death penalty.

They argue that one shot hit the person it was aimed at and did not put other people in great danger.

Prosecutors disagree and say the shot was fired from above a large crowd.

They also say Robinson had four rounds ready in case the first shot missed.

A judge will examine the evidence at a hearing on September 1.

The judge may decide whether the case should proceed to trial.

Robinson has not yet pleaded guilty or not guilty.
