Complaint Filed Over Viral Anti-Left Spoof Song

A man named Prasad Kuzhikal filed a complaint about a popular song called 'Pootiye Kettiye'.

This song is a parody of a famous Ayyappa devotional track and was used by some political parties in Kerala, India, during their election campaigns.

The song talks about a gold theft at the Sabarimala temple and suggests that the ruling Communist Party of India (Marxist) was involved.

The song became very popular and is believed to have contributed to the defeat of the CPI(M)-led LDF in the recent local body elections.

The complaint alleges that the song hurt the feelings of Ayyappa devotees and was misused for political purposes.

The police are now looking into the matter to see if a case should be registered.

Meanwhile, the CPI(M) is assessing the impact of the election, regardless of the complaint.

The CPI-M in Kerala has decided to lodge a formal complaint against the parody song 'Pottiye Kettiye', alleging that it constitutes a serious violation of the election code of conduct and deliberately hurts religious sentiments.

The CPI-M has also extended support to Prasad Kuzhikkala, general secretary of the Thiruvabharana Patha Samrakshana Samithi, who has sought legal action against the parody on the grounds that it mocks a devotional song dedicated to Lord Ayyappa.
