Papireddy Canal Siphon Aqueduct Collapses, Farmers Alarmed

A big water bridge called a siphon aqueduct on the Bezawada Papireddy canal in Nellore district collapsed on Sunday.

Farmers had told officials about small cracks in the bridge a few days ago, but their warnings were not taken seriously.

Officials tried to fix the bridge with sandbags, but the extra weight and water pressure caused it to collapse completely.

Now, a lot of water is flowing into a nearby tank, damaging roads and making it hard for farmers to take care of their crops.

Farmers are asking the government to lower the water level in the canal so they can fix the bridge and prevent more damage.
