Gopalpur Lake Bund Repaired After Cyclone Montha Breach
A big lake in Gopalpur village, Hanamkonda, had a part of its wall, called a bund, break open because of very heavy rain from a storm called Cyclone Montha.
This caused water to flood some neighborhoods.
On Sunday, people working for the government finished fixing the broken part of the bund.
They used dirt and sandbags to stop the leak and made sure extra water could flow away safely.
The government's leader for the area had asked them to fix it quickly because it was an emergency.
The repairs were done fast to stop more flooding.
Repairs to the Gopalpur village lake bund in Hanamkonda have been completed by irrigation department officials.
The bund breached on October 29 due to heavy rains from Cyclone Montha, causing flooding in nearby colonies.
Excess water beyond the lake's capacity led to the breach after intense rainfall.
Irrigation officials used earth and sandbags to seal the breach and divert excess floodwater.
The repair work was treated as a high-priority emergency and completed swiftly.
